Date Night Dinners – a gem of a cook book.

Today I happily report back on my ‘kitchen test’ of  Date Night Dinners – an inspiring recipe book from Sloane Taylor.

“That was the best thing I have tasted for a long time! ” -Sloane-Final-Kindle-Cover-200x300

This was the comment I received after serving up my first meal from this cook book.
I enjoy cooking, especially baking. Love whipping up a celebration cake or a batch of cookies. I also like entertaining, but  what I find a chore, is putting together dishes that compliment each other.
And this is where this book excels.
Every meal comes with accompanying dishes and wine suggestions,
The recipes are simple and delicious with full instructions so anyone can whip up a meal to impress.
I tested the Baked Salmon and served with the suggested side dishes of sweet potato and salad.
The salmon was cooked in a marinade  that was easily whisked up with store cupboard ingredients. Usually I would mash or roast wedges of sweet potato, but never baked them in foil. Simple! But so damn good. Definitely something I will serve up regularly from now on.
This was the quickest meal to put together and the result earned some lovely comments. Just the right dish for all these hot summer evenings.
Another thoughtful touch to this book was the conversion table. Being a ‘metric’ cook I am often put off recipes that use other measurements. So I was delighted to see a chart that has that all sorted.  Cups /ounces /grams all conveniently listed  to suit whatever method you use. Lovely!
If you want to take the chore out of entertaining, I  suggest you get this book and try out some romantic dinners.
Life might never be the same again.
